The American Nightmare wants to replace the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Current Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes said during a recent interview with Superstar Crossover (via Fightful) that "I actively am still on the hunt" when asked about bringing back the iconic Winged Eagle WWE Championship belt.

This isn't the first time Rhodes has alluded to wanting to bring back the classic winged eagle title. During an episode of 10 Essentials with GQ Sports earlier this year, he said, "I am actively trying to find a way to get that into the WWE World."

Back in 2011 at WWE Hell in a Cell, then-WWE Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes brought back the classic design of that championship belt, which famously is recognized from the same era as the winged eagle. Ironically enough, the current WWE Intercontinental Championship belt saw an update to its design last night on WWE RAW, held by current champion 'Main Event' Jey Uso.

The WWF version of the Winged Eagle Championship holds a lot of prestige from the likes of Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Stone Cold Steve Austin. Cody Rhodes would like to add his name to that list if he has anything to say. When he does, you know the first person he will dedicate it to is his late father, The American Dream, Dusty Rhodes.
