Samantha Irvin explains why she decided to leave the WWE

Only one week ago, on October 21, 2024, Samantha Irvin took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that she had decided to leave the WWE Universe as the Monday Night Raw ring announcer.
In a seemingly heartfelt 'Goodbye' on the part of Irvin, she was met by many WWE loyalists throughout the week, expressing their disdain about her decision and probing for an explanation on why she decided to leave.
Why did Samantha Irvin leave the WWE?
Irvin commented on an Instagram post to explain her decision,
“I don’t like announcing. I’m serious! Announcing was only supposed to be my way in. I wanted to manage, maybe even become general manager one day. But WWE saw no other future for me besides announcer. I love watching the action but I don’t love being an announcer.”
Of course, in typical 2024 fashion, select fans and critics chose not to respect her decision and continue to air their grievances on social media. This has since resulted in something no one had on their bingo cards for 2024: the Samantha Irvin social media revenge tour.
Irvin's husband, former WWE superstar Ricochet, also left the WWE earlier this year after deciding not to renew his contract and has since signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). However, not directly; this has probably played a role in why some wrestling fans have decided to act out against Irvin.
The WWE has since returned long-time ring announcer Lilian Garcia to fill the role on Monday Night Raw. As for Samantha Irvin, she is incredibly talented and has a lot of buzz at the moment. With the plethora of options for pro wrestlers to work these days, wherever she ends up, I'm sure she'll flourish.
