John Cena delivered his first heel promo on WWE RAW in Brussels, Belgium, addressing the WWE Universe for the first time since his shocking betrayal of Cody Rhodes at Elimination Chamber.

Let’s Go Cena, Cena Sucks

The much-anticipated episode of WWE RAW live in Brussels, Belgium, saw John Cena’s first appearance since his heel turn at WWE Elimination Chamber in Toronto, Canada earlier this month.

In his first heel promo since attacking Cody Rhodes and joining The Rock and Travis Scott at Elimination Chamber, Cena blamed the WWE Universe for his 20-year career leading up to his eventual heel turn.

Top 3 Most Expensive WWE John Cena Vintage Shirts

Explore 3 of the most expensive WWE John Cena vintage shirts and apparel.

It’s hard to believe that the name John Cena and the word vintage are synonymous in 2024, yet here we are.

We are just one week away from the debut of the WWE on Netflix and their flagship show, Monday Night Raw, which is the longest-running weekly television show in TV history—this same episode also kicks off John Cena’s farewell tour, who will retire at the end of 2025.

During his 20-year Hall of Fame career, the WWE has released no shortage of John Cena gear. Still, despite the WWE’s reputation for mass-producing merchandise, some of Cena’s t-shirts have become highly collectible and surprisingly valuable.

Here are three of the rarest and most expensive WWE John Cena vintage shirts you can still buy today—at a price.

John Cena Chain Gang Jersey (Basketball Variant)

In the early 2000s, John Cena’s “Dr. of Thuganomics” persona helped him break out as one of WWE’s fastest rising stars. With his witty rhymes and undeniable charisma, this era defined his climb to the top of sports entertainment.

The John Cena Chain Gang jersey, especially the rare basketball variant, has become a highly sought-after piece of vintage WWE merch. Recent eBay sales show this jersey selling for $200–$300, making it a must-have for serious John Cena merch collectors. [See current listings on eBay.]

John Cena The Champ is Here T-Shirt (Spinner Belt Version)

Of all the iconic John Cena gear from his career, his “The Champ is Here” shirt might take the crown for being the most over-the-top design. The graphic features Cena’s infamous Spinner Belt at waist level, an oddly designed piece of apparel during his reign as WWE Champion.

Despite its questionable design, this now-vintage WWE t-shirt has become quite valuable. Recent eBay sales for The Champ is Here shirt range between $100–$200. [See current listings on eBay.]

John Cena Word Life Shirt (3/4 Length Sleeve Variant)

Another valuable piece of John Cena apparel from his early career is the "Word Life" shirt with 3/4-length sleeves. The front graphic features a retro-style WWE logo inspired by the classic WWF design, paired with Cena's signature catchphrase underneath.

One of Cena's more noticeable pieces of merch, this shirt is slowly increasing in value, with recent eBay sales ranging from $75–$125. [See current listings on eBay.]

Collecting WWE John Cena merchandise will only become more valuable with time, especially as his career approaches its final chapter. And these rare, collectible pieces of merch don't just stop at vintage shirts for Cena, as there is an entire catalogue of weird and obscure memorabilia with high value attached, but that’s for another article.

For those looking to add a fresh piece of Cena's storied history to your collection, Stay True Wrestling has you covered. Inspired by WWE's ECW One Night Stand 2006 pay-per-view, we’ve recreated the iconic "If Cena Wins We Riot" fan sign as part of our latest apparel line. [Shop the collection now.]

John Cena not only made his surprise return at WWE Money in the Bank 2024 earlier this year in Toronto, Canada, but he also shocked the WWE Universe by announcing that he will officially retire from the WWE in 2025.

When did John Cena start wrestling?

With an in-ring career spanning over two decades, Cena signed a developmental contract with the WWE (then-WWF) in 2001 after ending a bodybuilding career to begin his pro wrestling training in the late 90’s at Ultimate Pro Wrestling’s (UPW) Ultimate University. He would go on to help usher in WWE’s Ruthless Aggression era in 2002, which would see him become the top babyface and public face of the company for the next decade.

Will John Cena beat the record?

Cena is a record 16-time world champion, as recognized by WWE alongside ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair, but will we see him take the reigns of that record during his 2025 farewell tour?

Fans also speculate that we could see The Leader of the Cenation finally win the elusive WWE Intercontinental Championship for the first time in his decorated career. One thing is certain: WWE fans have learned never to say never, and John Cena will be there to remind them Never to Give Up.

What can we expect during the John Cena Farewell tour?

During his Money in the Bank promo, John mentioned that the 2025 Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania would be his last. He also mentioned during an interview with Collider while promoting Season 2 of Peacemaker that he will dedicate 2025 to the WWE and commit to around 36 appearances throughout the year.

While the WWE hasn’t listed any official dates for John’s retirement tour, pro wrestling fans worldwide know that ‘The Last Time is Now,’ and in 2025, in the words of John Cena, “After This, You Can’t See Me.”
