Current NXT Champion Trick Williams revealed some invaluable advice he received from WWE legend John Cena during a recent interview with Uncrowned. Williams explained that Cena taught him one of the most crucial aspects of being a successful pro wrestler: being able to listen to the crowd and perform simultaneously.
“We’ve had multiple talks, but the most important thing I’ve learned from him is being able to listen and perform at the same time,” said Williams. “He knows what every sound means and how he should react to everything. Being able to listen and react accordingly to what the people are giving you is the most important thing I’ve ever heard.”
Williams' rise in WWE has been meteoric. The former football wide receiver turned pro wrestler only debuted in the WWE in 2021, and this past May turned 30 years of age. He's currently in his second reign as NXT Champion after defeating Ethan Page on October 1, 2024, during WWE NXT's CW premiere.
